  2. Do what you can to open the lines of communication and have the other party involved know that you do still love them no matter what has happened.

    But it takes two.  If one is determined to make it work and the other is not, it'll just add to the strain.

  3. Take time out for yourself and relax, think about what that person really means to you. Then ask yourself how can I make them as well as myself feel more comfortable in our daily lives. Just do something small like make a short phone call, or a lunch date to catch up.You will feel 100% better when you open your heart and love her once again.   4. It definitely depends on what strained the relationships and if it's the type of situation that is worth mending. If it's something worth mending, the first step would be to find peace within yourself so that you can approach this person without "weapons." In other words, your sole mission would be to achieve peace rather than to play victim and still be on defense about things based on the past. After that point, mending becomes very possible.

  5. get marshall rosenberg's book "nonviolent communication, a language of love"  talk to the person.  ask them what's going on with them.  try to have empathy for how they feel and what their deep needs are.  tell them your feelings and needs.  try to connect on a human level.  empathy is going to be the key.
