I'll soon will be made redundant. I would like to run a Charity selling second hand clothes and books and other items. But I have been told this kind of job is only for retired people and it is very difficult. But maybe there is a possibility...can anyone advise me? Do I have to contact the Charity Association in England? Do I need to contact a charity like OXFAM and ask them if they open my a charity shop in my local area? Please if anyone can tell me how do I start. Many thanks

  1. I think they mean its for retired people because they don't get any money for it. It's not like you open a franchise and make money. All of it goes to the charity.

Why don't you just donate your clothes and books to an already existing charity? You need a license to be a recognised charity...and the whole industry is very competitive because there are so many charities nowadays...but no-one is compassionate or philanthropic anymore, so its hard to get dnoations...
