What steps do I need to take to become a commercial airline pilot in Australia?

I have an enter score of 89 and would like to know what is involved in becoming a pilot. I dont wish to join the airforce.

  1. I don't know about flying schools in Australia, but i've just completed my Commercial Pilots License here in New Zealand. It's not cheap, i've got a student loan of about $80,000 NZD, and it will take a good 2-3 year's if you're unlucky (NZ weather is just fantastic! ;)) But it's entirely possible through a flying school. That $80,000 includes PPL, CPL, and IFR rating, and can be done for far far cheaper!

    Your first bet i think would be to go to your nearest small airport, and find the pilot bar, or flying club, talk to some people, and get an idea of what the industry is doing in oz, and where the best place to go to learn is. Do your research first, some flying schools are better than others, and sometimes cheaper too! (Which i found out the hard way)
