What stereotypes do you think there are of women??

What are the stereotypes that women have... do these come from advertising?

The biggest stereotype about women is that they don't care about "size"; they do care, much to my benefit.  ;)

One of the biggest stereotypes is that are supposed to be the caregivers.  We are expected to care for children and the elderly, no matter our circumstances.  That is why women on average spend 14 years out of the work force, which leads to less social security (no ss for unpaid work).  Many women do not have pensions because of this, and on average if they do it is half of what a man in comparable position would get.

What the h**l is it with this word 'stereotype'?

Why does it put the fear of God into people?

We stereotype because we spot patterns in groups.  If those patterns didnt exist, then the stereotype would not occur.  Stereotypes in general are truth.

There are female traits in the same way that there are male traits.  Advertising simply takes them and runs with them.

Women have been labeled as emotional, sensitive, bitchy and nag a lot.  On the other hand,  we are also described as feminine, nurturing, caring and we smell nice.  This isn't from advertising, it's more from word of mouth and movies.

does it matter?

I mean cant an individual just defeat the norm by not being it,

by being what they are, WITHOUT perceiving an  imaginary need to have to fight against something to "get to"?

why do you all have to be FIGHTING AGAINST something?

why not see what you could have, take it, its yours?

WHO's gonna be able to succesfully stereotype you if you simply dont fit that stereotype? (no one)

WAY too many.

And a lot of women let themselves fall into those stereotypes, sadly.

I would have to agree with the first person who answered. There are a ton of stereotypes of women just as there are for men. But sadly, I think most women actually fall into so many of these categories making these stereotypes even bigger. It sucks for us women who actually don't fall under many of these stereotypes.

Women love make-up, fashion, and shopping-Not true for all women.

Women are submissive,maternal,and gentle-Not true for all women.

There's too many stereotypes with all kinds of people , not just women.

Many women are naturally stereotypical,and in some cases it is from advertising too.
