  1. i dont know about the flex, but since ur a defensman on a travel team, i would get a sturdy stick with some flex. Defensemen have to shoot from the blue line, so get a good stick.

  2. It would be more helpful to know our height and weight to determine the proper stick flex.  But the norm for defensemen is usually a stiffer stick than forwards,  with a square toe and a little longer in length.  I would say probably an intermediate or flexible senior if you are a bigger kid.  I would say 140+ lbs go with the senior anything else go with a strong intermediate stick.

  3. Your flex should be about half your weight.  That way the stick's sturdy enough to take some beating but still has some bend.

Part of the reason you see NHL players sticks blowing up all the time is because they use sticks made for 13 year olds.  When a 200 lb man uses a stick made for a 120 lb kid....well you see on TV what happens.  They're really whippy which makes for a great shot but......I guess if you don't have to pay for all those sticks it doesn't matter.
