Question:

What stock broker to use if NOT a US citizen or resident?

I recently applied to E-TRADE in London (since I am European) which would allow me to trade on the NYSE. However I have had some issues in responses as the people have not been very helpful and its been a month since I've been waiting for a response whether my account is going to be opened or not. I wanted to search if there are any other alternatives for big broker companies, such as E-trade, that would allow European citizens invest in American stocks.

  2. Hey Kapacs,

Unfortunately you picked a US brokerage with a terrible customer service record. E*Trade is one of the few online discount brokerages based in the US with extensive global trading in both US & Foreign currencies but there are other options. As long as you don't mind trading in US dollars, this site http://www.money-and-investing.com/Onlin... has great reviews of the 12 Major US Discount Brokerages. It ranks their strengths, weaknesses, prices, research and analysis tools, customer service, etc. They are rated on a lot of metrics that will be important to your trading experience.

    Hope this was helpful!

    Cheers,
