  1. For take-offs and landings (the WHOLE way up, and starting from the BEGINNING, or TOP of descent - about an hour before landing), the best ways to alleviate ear pressure are to:

    *Chew gum

    *Drink something

*Suck on a hard candy or mints

    *Yawn

*Pinch the nostrils shut, take a deep breath in through the mouth, then force the air into the back of the nose as if trying to blow your nose

*Place hot damp towels (usually like the ones distributed to first and business class before take-off and landing to freshen up with - just ask a flight attendant for them) or paper towels that have been soaked in hot water and wrung out at the bottom of two paper or styrofoam cups, then hold the cups over the ears.

*Another trick that used mainly on babies and small children, but can be used on anyone, is to gently but with some pressure, rub your neck repeatedly from the chin to the base of the neck. This will cause a swallowing motion that will relieve pressure build-up in the ears.

  2. As a pilot this happens quite a bit to me. What i do when my ears pop. is squeeze my nose so I'm blocking off air flow, breath in through my mouth, And try to exhale through my nose while squeezing my nose this pops your ears and relives the pressure.

  3. try drinking somthing cold.

  4. Chewing gum

    Sucking sweet

    Eating

    Drinking

    Blowing out

    Bursting the bubbles

    Anything that uses Ur mouth

  5. Well.. like said above... eating, drinking, gum, yawning... lengthing your jaw... or... listening to music.... it gets your minds off of things!

  6. yawning

    swallowing

and blowing your ears....one on them will eventually work...it always does for me,,

  7. I drink water and this helps.  Chewing gum doesn't really work for me for some reason.

  8. You may try buying those "airplane earplugs" to lessen the effects of pressurization on the plane.  Also, drinking a beverage will help.  The effect of swallowing will clear the pressure from your ears.  Be very careful of blowing your nose hard as it may damage your eardrums for good.  One last suggestion is chewing a gum and yawning.
