Wal-mart has basic sized cardboard boxes. Any shipping store (UPS, FedEx/Kinko's, Mailboxes, etc) will also have a wide variety. Office supply stores (OfficeMax, Staples) and storage facilities (UHaul) will also usually have them.

If you need boxes for moving U-Haul and such places sell them.  If it's for storage of items office supply stores carry boxes. Usually called file boxes or bankers boxes.  Wal Mart may have those, too.  And I believe Sam's does.

For free boxes look behind smaller retail stores, dollar general, family dollar, party dollar, candle stores, etc.  Furniture or rent to own stores are a great place to find larger boxes, sheets of styrofoam and bubblewrap.  Wal-mart recycles all their boxes.

To purchase boxes try an office supply store, or a u-ship type store.
