What stores sell fake meat?

Okay so I have been a vegetarian for about 3 or 4 months now. Lately I have been wondering how fake meat tastes like. Where can I go to buy fake meat? I like in TX by the way. Thanks =]

Do you have an Albertsons around you? It's a grocery store, and I'm sure lots of other grocery stores sell fake meat products. My roomate is a vegetarian and she buys the Morning Star brand fake meat products. She really likes them, she gets fake chicken nuggets, fake buffalo wings, fake bacon, etc!

It tastes different at first, but it's not unpleasant and it's better than  eating animal meat.  Most grocery stores have it; look for it in the frozen dinners section.

trader joes! i work at one in california. they are opening one up in san antonio! if you make it there, try the meatless meatballs or the beef-less strips!

My grocery store (stop and shop) has a little section. By the fruits and veggies. Theu have a freezer right next to them, and a little off but its like where i salad bar is. And they sell vegan ice cream. and morning star stuff. All the good stuff. I suggest morning star chick'n nuggets, i took a bite of it, and had to make sure there not real, i think they taste exactly like chicken nuggets. =) I don't like there veggie burgers, but the chick'n patties are good. They have a website too. So yea. Hope i helped. Good luck.

A lot of grocery stores have fake meats. They're usually in the produce section. Plus, I have yet to go to a grocery store chain that doesn't carry Morningstar Farms brand items in their freezer case. That company is owned by Kellogg's, so it's pretty much everywhere.

Where do you live in Texas? Whole Foods started in Austin, and that's a fantastic place to find most of the natural foods brands available. they're in and around the major cities -- D/FW, Houston, and San Antonio.

Most regular groceries have at least a limited supply. The fancy version of the generic grocery store will have a better supply but prices will vary.  The health chains like Henry's or Whole Foods will have the best selection and typically the best prices.  If it's not in the freezer section check the tofu fridge area near the cheese and deli meat.

Soy Chorizo is my favorite.  Works great in gumbo or as a taco meat.

Why would you want to eat fake meat? Meat eaters don't go around looking for fake vegetables!

Congrats on going veg! Fake meat brands vary, so you might love the taste of certain brands and dislike the taste of others.

You can find fake meats in pretty much every supermarket nationwide, including

Wal-Mart, Kroger, Safeway, Albertsons, and Target. Also check your local health food stores. Whole Foods has tons of products.
