What story do you have about incredible customer service?

Do you have an incredible customer service story? I want to hear it. And I don't just mean some company went a bit beyond the normal - I mean they did something extraordinary! Something that totally amazed you and seals in concrete the fact you would always continue to do business with them again and again. The company or business can be large or small, a corporate giant or a small one-person business. But I want the name of the company and possibly a way to contact them. And details about what they did for you. It's a way you can give back to them, too - because they will be published in a book!

  1. I bought an Oregon Scientific weather station/radio from Ebay a few weeks ago. It came with an AC adapter and a wireless outdoor temperature sensor.

    It worked wonderfully for two days -- and then one of my birds decided to turn the end of the AC cord into a chew toy. The gadget won't work without the cord, so I went to the Oregon Scientific website to see if they sold spares. They didn't, but I sent an email to their customer service people, asking where I could buy one.

    I got an email back from some of their tech guys telling me they were sending me a new AC adapter at no charge.


  2. in the 60s, i worked for schlage lock.  in the research department, headed by Mr Schlage, as a lab tech.  a woman contacted him, i've no idea how, and told him she had a problem with her door lock.  since part of my job was to install and test locks, and she lives only a mile away from the plant, he sent me to her house to see what the problem was, and, if i could, fix it.  she was retired, and obviously couldn't fix the problem herself.  however, it wasn't difficult, and i did fix it.  i'm sure that she told her relatives, and maybe Schlage sold some more locks because of the service.
