  1. Off Hand, only one I can  think of is a Harley Sportster.  No bike engines today that do not have built in transmission.  You may find something which will work, if you use a jack-shaft.  Can not think of a modern unit engine which does not share opil, engine/transmission, so you can not even cut the tranny off.

    Tomcotexas.

  2. Try motorbikes that were sold in makets like Australia, Japan, UK, NZ etc....

  3. I think the Bonneville Triumph was another.  The Kawasaki 1300 was right hand shaft drive and that would certainly give you plenty of power.

  4. it's not possible to turn the motor around? i mean it's not like you're trying to fit in a bike frame or something, you should have a lil more room to work with shouldn't you?

  5. You could use what is called a jack shaft to put the power to the other side of the motor.

A jack shaft is a shaft with a sprocket on each end supported by couple of bearings.

This may also help to get the correct final drive ratio for the motorcycle engine.  Consider that the motorcycle has a much larger diameter tire than a golf cart.  Without a change in gearing, the motorcycle engine wouldn't be any faster than the stock golf cart motor.

Just be careful that you don't make it too fast without some serious modifications to the chassis, suspension, steering, and tires.  Your golf cart is designed to go not much faster than 25 MPH.  It would be very unstable at speeds that a motorcycle engine with the correct gearing could move it.

You may also want to consider some different tires.  If used on pavement only, maybe some racing slicks like the ones used on the junior class dragsters.  If used off road, maybe some tires from a 4 wheeler ATV.  Using your favorite Internet search engine search for Junior class dragster tire.

The most common are 18x8x8 - Mickey Thomson Slicks which sell for $125 each.

The fastest golf cart I ever saw was built by Don Garlits, the top fuel dragster driver.  He had one with a 1000 CC Kawasaki motor that would do over 150 MPH.

  6. i have done this before..  u need to get a quad rear end .. and weld a bracket so that the wing arm will mount.  considering ur trying to put a street bike motor you are going to want a roll cage so tie it into the mounts for the swing arm!

and if u want a nice front end just use the front a-arms from a quad
