I'm a food fanatic but on a backpacking travel in Europe, chic and fancy cusine doesn't interest. I want to sample the staple foods of the locals and or the food that it's famous for. In NIce,it would be this peaflour pancake, Britanny it's seafood and crepe, Germany , sausages and beer. Somewhere along this line. Thank You

  1. I'm Dutch, and I can tell you that when you're in Amsterdam you HAVE to eat kroketten, frikandellen en stroopwafels!! They are an absolute must. It makes me drool lol.

  2. Restaurant Poort van Cleve in Amsterdam for traditional poor man's food.

Restaurant Lucius in Amsterdam for fish dishes.

Of course in Brussels AND Amsterdam you must at least eat muscles once.

Lunch at Sal Meijer in Amsterdam South, typical Amsterdam kosher food.

You must eat at a fish and sour stall in Amsterdam. there is still one on the Koningsplein I believe. Traditional soured items and salted fish.
