  1. It's up to you what strings you use. There is only one rule - METAL strings, not nylon strings.

    First, their is a difference in string if you are talking about an Acoustic Electric guitar and Semi-acoustic.

    The acoustic uses bronze wound strings because it needs to resonate acoustically and that is what the pickup tends to amplify....it amplify's the sound inside the body which is produced by the acoustic bronze string.

    Semi-acoustic use electric steel string and nothing else. Try putting Acoustic strings on a Semi-acoustic guitar. It won't sound good and have no volume hardly.

  3. Acoustic strings are the norm for all acoustic-electric guitars. The term 'electric' is that the acoustic guitar is wired for amplification; either through an under-the-saddle filament or the hardware installed inside the box.
