  1. Martin phosphor bronze lights are the best for that kind of response, however it also depends on your guitar.  If your guitar is made out of rosewood or mahogany, it will have that  kind of warm response, however if it is made out of maple then you might only be able to get trebly high end notes.  Wood is the biggest part of your guitars tone, not strings or pickups.

  2. well seeing as that a bass guitar has really thick strings and give of a deep sound im guessing you should go for thicker strings and as far as the type i think nylon should do the job steel and nickel sound a bit sweeter so..

  3. In my experience, the best strings for low, warm tones are Thomastik Infeld Jazz Swing Series flatwound strings.

The description of these strings is : "mellow timbre, powerful, designed especially for semi acoustic and acoustic jazz guitars"

The strings I buy are Jazz Swing in .010 - .044 gauge (prod. no. JS-110). I think these are the lightest strings T-I manufactures.

I have yet to have a negative comment from anyone about my tone, and they sound just as good on my old $200.00 Epiphone as on my $3000.00 Taylor.
