What style do you like in NBA?

Most people think Spurs are the best yet most boring team. I would've agreed if this was 1999-2003 when they were one dimensional. Since Parker and Ginoboli matured, Spurs have been pretty fun to watch (with Manu's wild shots, Parker's one man fast break).

So I am curious. how would you define: exciting basketball? What style do you like? Team defense? Unselfish passing games? Please give more details than certain superstars' names.

I like the my Pistons because I like their game. Cutting down turnovers, unselfish, and exciting defense (well, when Big Ben was here, those blocks are pretty darn fun to watch).

Exciting basketball is Team USA basketball. You know, those alley-oops and behind the back passes. Team USA beats other nations while making it look easy. The rush of watching them getting steals and running a fast-break, knowing that they'll put on a show, it's unbelievable.

As for style, I'd prefer that the team I support (not going to say which one) play a balance of team defense/passing game with a bit of a flair. It really doesn't matter how you get it done, as long as it gets done. The proof is that the Spurs, one of the least exciting teams in the NBA has the most championships in the last 10 years. Obviously basketball is meant to entertain the viewers. But most of the high flying run-and-gun teams never get too far (e.g. Suns). These teams sell tickets, and every loves to watch them, but they don't get championships.

So I'd say the base and fundamentals of any team should rely on help defense, hedging screens, contesting all jumpers, and running fundamental offense like pick-and-roll and post-up. But at the same time, when the time calls for it (e.g. fast-break, or when the game is sealed), break out a couple of moves.

fast-break offense with the ability to dominate in the half court (with personnel adjustments), solid rebounding on both ends of the floor and HARD-*** defense that allows NOTHING cheap...

i dont like watching Spurs or celetics...it just boring ...its like the other version on WNBA to boring.....

i like suns style of play or warriors.....i like it when they play D too but just dont make the game d**n boring....

basically i hate half court games......

Great question.  Personally, I like the fast, passing games of the Suns and Raptors.  I'm also a fan of the pick n roll---if it's done right consistently.

I like the Fast uptempo style, like the style that the Suns play. Its a very exciting and a fun style to watch.

Half-court set, playing lock-down D, fundamental game. Pretty much like what the Celtics and Spurs are. My only goals in every game are enjoy it, play it, and win. Even though I like the Spurs playing style which brought them 4 championships, I HATE THEM simply because I'm a Mavericks fan (and I don't live in Dallas). I'm also a fan of the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz. Make Deron Williams and Chris Paul play 1 on 1 and Deron will beat Paul up. It happens every game. When it's Utah vs. New Orleans, it's low scoring and the Jazz wins and you'll see in the box score the struggles of Chris Paul courtesy of Deron Williams.
