  1. wrell you can't pigeon all players but i woul dhave to say the majority play a dialect of a type of play that would be categorized as SELECTIVE AGGRESSION.

be caerfule what you play but when you do apply the most amount of reasonable pressure by betting strategically to strengthen your hand as much as possible.

The type of play changes as fewer players are left at a table and the relative nature of "good" and 'bad" hands changes as do the odds of receiving them.

  2. they have a loose style which people just play and dont argue and they just play fair and get on with the game i like to play this way coz im passive about playin faiy

  3. Aggressive.

Some are tight (Howard Lederer), while others are loose (Gus Hansen). Regardless of how they play, they are aggressive when then are in the pot. They are trying to win the pot, but not go broke doing so.

  4. all the styles are different, some are aggressive, some are passive, you just have to figure out what works best for you, for me im passive and wait to trap players

  5. It really does vary considerably from player to player and depending on which tournament you're talking about.

I would say, on average, that aggressive seems to be the preferred approach.

  6. Texas hold'em

  7. nearly all are aggressive, either loose, tight or manic. usually, the ones that make it to final table are tight aggressive (Dan Harrington), but the ones with the big stacks on day 2 are manic aggressive (Espindiari.)

however, i'm beginning to believe that to win a big tourney with a large and prestigious field, you have to be able to play all the aggressive styles, and recognize when a switch is needed.

  8. strip poker

  9. texas holdem

  10. Almost all successful professional poker players are considered tight-aggressive players most of the time. There are certainly some exceptions, but I'd bet over 90% of pro poker players have this style. Of course, the best players will adapt their game to other styles depending on how a specific table is playing, but as a general rule, if you want to be successful, you must learn to be tight-aggressive, then go from there.

  11. Thanks for all the answers so far but Ill take it from here. The correct answer is most players are advanced enough to play all styles and change their game to suit the opponent. If you are at a table with over the top crazy players go tight aggressive, if you are at a table with a bunch of nits that are waiting for big hands take advantage of it and play loose aggressive. Once you think the table has you pegged switch it up and swing the other way so that they are always guessing how you are playing that particular hand. Poker is a game of partial information and the more of the available that you can distort then you will have a bigger advantage over your opponent.

This is an exercise that you can try at your local casino. Go and sweat a game for several hours. just watch it and dont ever say a word. after some time has passed see if you can put a player on a specific range of hands and mentally keep track of your winning percentage. Also during that time try to keep track of how many times you were wrong and determine what that player did to make you put him on a different hand. I am an avid poker player and I still do this often, its good training.

I know I went in a slightly different direction so ill get back to the point. Professional poker players play all styles depending of the table environment.

    10 points please :)

  12. Sorry... They are losers. (But sometimes, it can take years.) Your answer is luck, and a sense about themselves to either BLUFF or intimidate someone else -- or, hope no one else gets good "hands".  The more you watch these dopey TV shows, which tries to make celebs out of these Geeks... the more you realize that they really, really don't know what they're doing... and have to ultimately get good cards. Their style of play, changes with the person themself.  But, you can't bluff your way into beating a person, that has 3 Aces, or a full house, etc.

You see these guys, and I mean REALLY look at them? It's like a Star Wars convention, but with playing cards with No Yoda on them ...Playing with their parents' money from their rooms or mom's basement online now, at first -- because they can't do anything else. Hopefully, they find some success for a little while -- until they lose it all. ESPN will make a big deal, and they'll get to wear a baseball cap promoting something or other.. until you realize they're flat broke, and can't keep a woman, family, home, or anything.. and are in fact, obsessive gamblers that have been enabled by TV, casinos and everyone that takes a BITE and has reason to earn

    -- as they lose.
