  1. You should talk to the school counselor, they are the ones that will be able to guide you towards your journalism interest.

  2. To major in journalism, you need courses in two areas -- English and people.

Assuming your English courses have gone well for you (because you would not consider journalism otherwise) then I would suggest taking courses in psychology, management, sociology, and business......all courses about how people interact.

During your three or so years of journalism courses, you will also find your own strengths -- whether in reporting, writing, visuals (photos, video or graphics) or editing -- and you might also stumble upon the type of journalism you want to practice.

Depending upon the area of journalism that interests you, there may be other courses offered in statistics, economics, science reporting, sports, broadcasting, government, military, politics, labor negotiations, community planning, education, etc.

Journalism is a wide open field.  You can do whatever interests you and make a difference in society by trying to help people.

    Hope this answer helps you.

  3. Depends on school / state requirements.. Your best bet is to go speak with someone from the school about it.
