An economist seems like a very interesting career. Since I'm entering my first year of high school what subjects are most important for this career?

  1. Economics (obviously), as well as math courses; Calculus, Statistics, that sort of high level stuff.

Also business finance and accounting, but that is secondary to what an Economics degree is.

  2. Mathematics, social studies and business.  Courses in computer science would be helpful too.  In college you will want to major in economics, but you will also need to decide which type of economics (product market, labor market, micro, macro, etc) you are interested in.

    Good luck!

  3. Math, calculus, statistics, business, and history.

Get subscriptions to the Wall Street Journal and the Economist.

Get some books on the subjects,  I'm reading Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell.  Great book.  Read Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith.  Read as many novelists as you can.

And most of all remember Karl Marx, John Keynes, and Paul Krugman are or were full of c**p.
