I am looking for 2 12" subs and an amp for about $700 and I want maximum SPL. SQ isn't that important to me. I just want it to be very loud. I was thinking maybe some Alpine Type R or Rockford Fosgate T1. But ya I just want maximum SPL aka bump for $700 amp and 2 subs.

  1. If you have your eye on either one of those, the Type R or the T1, go for it!! I don't feel either of them would let you down.

I have 'hands on' w/ both, and they would both give you what you want at a value your pocket can meet. In a vented enclosure at the highest of their specs, they can give you ~Very Loud~. And remain durable!

Be sure to match accordingly the combined ohm load you will be putting in your amp.

As far as amps, I'd suggest Kicker, MA Audio, MTX, and I can't believe I'm going to say this, but Hifonics. All of these have a variety of series' of amps. Even the Hifonics.. I'm not sure about the reliabilty for longevity, but they do offer flexibility as being 1 ohm stable giving a fair amount of ~push~. And all of them fit into your price.

Here is something I recently wrote..

Audiobahn is still around I'm sure, but you should really consider finding an interest in a differ company. Whether you like them for the appealing design of their equipment or the high rated wattage, it is all mis-leading.

You should take a second to look into their specs.. they speak well enough for themselves. Even their best of the best is nowhere near outstanding.

Besides seeing these go around for some yrs. now, I only played hard w/ one of their subs. One 15" aw1506t(?) Flame Q. I powered it w/ an older 1501d MTX. Yes, the SPL was fairly impressive. I had no problems w/ it, but I felt I had to baby it the entire time. I had seen many lower class Audiobahns sound horrible and get destroyed in a short amount of time. Since then I have seen many of those same Flame Q subs, which I think is about their best, fall apart, only because they simply are not `built to last.`

The power handling is exagerated, probably by double, on Both the amps and the subs. The amps do create power, yet the output can become intolerable. They produce power, but highly distorted. Distortion contributes to blowing subs! If you truly hold an interest in Audiobahn, be careful! There are many other subs and amps in the same price range that are more durable.

    Good luck..!

  2. You will be happier with the Alpines over the rockfords.

  3. Go with audiobahn subwoofers and a soundstorm monoblock amplifier. it will put out enough power to control these things, and you can run around 2000w RMS I would imagine. Put them in a cheap box that is ported that you can find at ebay.com or any other website that carries boxes. Check out this website for cheap and really great quality speakers. www.onlinecarstereo.com. You need a headunit, and there they sell a decent kenwood for like $70. Then get the audiobahns and the box, then the amp and the wires and you're set! If you know how to install a system, that will save you around $200 for just professional work. Might need a capacitor or second battery to power these though, and they WILL BE LOUD.

  4. I like these subs myself, http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/...

    358 for the pair.

    And this amp. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/...

    279 for the amp.

    Total: $637.00 shipped.

  5. go the 12" JVC GS-1200 350rms they are $130 each and a RESPONSE amplifier which is $399 and is 1000ohms at 1ohm

    2 12"  subs= 260

    1 amp=399

    =$659

i have these in my car that hit so hard. I got my stuff for $700 with a  dual ported box.

    These prices are in australia
