I'm going to be a freshman this year and I don't really know what I need.

I'm in an international high school if that changes anything.

  1. it's easier to categorize it.

    basics:

pens, pencils, erasers(maybe), white out, loose leaf notebook paper, notebooks, binders, folders, things like that.

then go by what classes you know you'll have:

(english, math, science, history, a language -possibly)

you'll need a calculator, a compass and other construction tools (depending on what math you're taking), and go on through your list, highlighters for english, etc

then just wait to see if your teachers give you any specific list of things to have, and if you need anything else, you can always buy them during the school year

  2. In the US most teachers will tell you what supplies they want you to have for their class on the first day of school. In general you will need pencils/pens, a calculator, notebooks, folders, and a backpack to carry it all. I recommend a separate notebook and folder for each academic class you are taking so that you can stay organized.

On the first day you can just bring some basic stuff (pencil, paper, and a folder) and see if your teachers ask you to buy certain supplies and then go out sometime that week and buy your supplies. Or you could just get the general things I listed above in advance and if needed pick up the added supplies that your teachers may want you to have.

    best of luck
