Question:

What support should we give to Iran?

What more can they do?

The United Nations introduced the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, a voluntary commitment not to make nuclear weapons.

When you sign up to this treaty, it means you get periodic visits from the IAEA nuclear inspectors.

Iran signed up. They are checked regularly.

Israel didn't sign .

Now Iran are being threatened by the country that refused to sign the treaty.

The IAEA inspector have not reported finding any nuclear bombs complete or in construction or being designed.

It seems bizarre that a 'treaty refuser' is threatening a 'treaty signatory'?

And if Iran are attacked by Israel or USA, doesn't that make other countries think there is no point to signing treatys? That it's better to get nuclear weapons.

  1. We should support Iran only when it unconditionally gives up it's nuclear weapons program.

  2. None!Until there is a change of government!

  3. Iran has a proven track record of terrorism and support of terrorism.

Israel is not a proven terrorist regime.

That is the difference between the two.

America would support Iran if they didn't support terrorist.

And yes, treaties have no value if they are not enforced.

America would not attack Iran without the international communities support.

Which by the way they had when they attacked Iraq.

Everyone only points their fingers at America, when in fact all the large nations ALSO agreed to this invasion.

  4. That is aan extremely logical point of view. However, man y people do not let common sense and logic get in the way of their irrational fear of Moslems.

The US and Israel have signed treaties before and ignored them. The US uses torture in contravention of the Geneva conventions. Israel denied that it had nuclear weapons, while it developed its own nuclear weapons program.

Iran needs to develop strong deterrents against an attack by the US and Israel, for its own defense, as it has been openly threatened by both.

(For anyone who at this point wants to say that Iran said it would destroy Israel, that is absolutely not true. it was a blatant western mistranslation of a speech made by the Iranian leader whose name I cannot spell).

However, the US government is using the same approach it used before attacking Iraq. By repeating nonsensical claims, Bush managed to create such a great irrational fear of Iraq, that he was able to invade and have the support of the less informed American populace. He is using the same methodology for Iran.

I hope others here appreciate the logic of your sentiments.

  5. Iran has good relations with Russia. The US and Israel are not stupid enough to touch Iran.

  6. Moronic cretins such as merkatryg make argument almost pointless, but let's try for the their sake. Iran has been persistently shat upon by the USA & the UK governments, who have invaded Iran to gain control of its oilfields during WW2, engineered a coup to overthrow Mohammad Mossadegh (operation Ajax) when he nationalized his own country's oil, not unreasonably thinking that Iran should get the profit not British & American companies, sold chemical weapons to Saddam Hussein which he cheerfully used in the Iran-Iraq war, and watched the USA arm Israel on the cheap, allowing them to become the second best equipped army on the planet. It's small wonder that the USA & British governments are viewed with a large amount of suspicion by even moderate Iranians (and can we get it straight-they are Persians, they speak Farsi, not Arabic. Calling them Arabs is like me calling a white American a Mexican).

The way to solve this issue is by encouraging moderate Muslims in Iran to come to the fore, helping generate political change in Iran to drive out the extremists, and by not being so bloody onbvious that we are really after their oil. If Iranians think that the west is only after Iran's oil, then the extremists will maintain control because of that fear, much as the extremists have maintained control of the USA-fear.

Or Isn't it true that the USA is too scared to vote out a wartime president? Even if he is a moron with the IQ of a boiled potato.

  7. You are being stupid and naive. Iran is developing a nuclear weapons program. It constantly leads UN inspectors 'round the houses' in the same way as the black gibbering baboon Mugabe did in Zimbabwe over 'fair electoral systems'. President 'Mustaphajihad said he wanted to 'wipe Israel off the face of the earth'..what do you not understand about that?

..and he is not even in complete control of his country..the equivalent of the republican guard and S****y mudslime clerics can override his diktats at any time.

Nuke'm! I say..and good riddance..maybe bring the rest of the filthy arab world to heel and get petrol prices back down to civilised levels. I hospitalised the guy downstairs..found out his mail contained islamic mudshite terrorist literature..am looking forward to meeting our gracious highness the queen to get an MBE VC or whateeva..can't w8 to get out and serve in towelheid country to use these  mudshit b******s as bayonet practice!

  8. But please try and understand they toke Americans hostage for 444 days I know is not not nice and would be hard for you to understand But we owe them a good butt whipping

  9. The UN is a useless group of socialist.  Their treaties have no teeth.  The US should pull out of the UN a long time ago.

Iran is a threat to its neighbors like Israel.  Iranian President would like nothing more than to wipe out all the Jews in Israel.  Finish the genocide that Hitler started.  Israel has nukes to defend its people from the c**p that surrounds its homeland.

  10. The United Nations being involved does not guarantee anything.  It is a useless organization.  Treaties aren't worth the paper they are written on; every country has broken them.  Iran is not to be trusted; I wouldn't sign a treaty of any sort with them if Ahmadenijad told me he wanted my country wiped off the planet (as he did with Israel).  When has the UN ever proved to be reliable?  It should have been dissolved long ago.

  11. Dont be a liberal, stop defending these muslim extremists, lets join together and take em out for good

  12. i think they need to leave us alone and we need to leave them alone. we already screwed up in iraq looking for MWDS that didnt exist. our military is spread way to thin and our economy sucks so spending millions of dollars a day is pointless. and if countries were to look at this situation the way that you just interpreted it then yeah they would view treatites pointless. i dont understand why we are going to pick sides in that war. if USA was to end the war than they shouldnt pick isralies over the palestinians or the palestinians over the israleis. This has only created more catastophe.
