What surface cleaning fish for my pond are there?

Question

I am extending my pond and i really don't want it to turn into a stagnant mess. I have a filter and a pump which is capable of the pond volume. I was wondering what surface eating fish there are.

Because ponds are outside algae eaters won't survive the conditions. But koi and goldfish are carp related and will eat off the bottom.
