  1. I don't know about the exact surface, but (like you said) it can't be astroturf for the simple reason that it needs to be watered.

    *EDIT*

    Indoor courts

Special surfaces can only be used indoors. Most commonly carpet surfaces, carpet courts vary in playing characteristics due to differences in thickness, texture, and materials used in the base and yarn. Suspended surfaces may be used indoors. The ATP tennis tour also considers rubber surfaces as carpet, such as that of the Paris Masters. While being the most common surface for real tennis, wood is the rarest surface for tennis. It is also the fastest surface, which bounces faster and lower than grass. There are many other types of indoor surfaces including fake glass.

  2. Its like a rag made of rubber faster than clay but slower than grass.

  3. The best way to describe a carpet surface would be to call it rubberized berber carpet.  Our field house at school has that surface, and I've played on it a few times now.

It's not quite as slow as clay, but it's much slower than hardcourts.  It's relatively padded, so it's pretty comfortable to play on, but if you scrape a knee or elbow on it, it's gonna hurt.  It'd be almost worse than sliding on a hardcourt, cause you get the bad scrape with rugburn.

  4. it's on carpet. duh. jk i don't know

  5. the carpet needs to be vaccuumed every day, especially if u have dirty shoes

  6. It's not like the kind of carpet you would put down in your house, it's a synthetic surface, similar to a rubberized hard court like rebound ace, but plays much faster usually, that is rolled into place in interlocking sections, and can be removed easily.  That's why they call it carpet, because it comes in rolls, and is a temporary surface that is usually used in arenas not normally used for tennis per se, like a basketball arena.  The Moscow ATP and WTA tournaments use carpet, because the stadium they are played in is also used for hockey, gmynastics, and a lot of other sports.
