Question:

What surfboard is right for me?

I am 6 feet, 170 lbs. I surf in santa cruz, ca. For not having a board i go a fair amount, (usually borrow from friends) looking to take it to the next step and get a board.

  1. well it depends on what you are looking for in a board. if you are looking for something that is easy to ride and you can take it out in small surf, i would get a long board or funboard. something that is easy to ride and can ride in a bit bigger surf, i would get a mini- mal. something that paddles like a long board but performs like a shortboard, i would get a fish. something that is hard but fun and for experienced surfers, i would get a shortboard. and if you are looking to surf in big waves, i would get a gun.

    for the size, i would go to a surfshop and the guys there will get you the right stuff for your experience level and what you are looking for in your board.

  2. I would go with a longboard. They are easier to surf on and just to have fun with. If your looking to try some tricks go with an AL Merrick short board. Thats what i surf.
