  1. that depends if your a beginner or not. if you are, go with a fun board, around seven feet. that way once you get your bearings you can either go to a short board or a long board. if your a good surfer, go with a shortboard. as for brand, thats something your gonna have to choose buy instinct. besides, price isnt everything.

  2. The right answers depends on where you surf and how much you surf.  Rule of thumb is to start with a board at least 15 cm longer than you are tall when you are getting started.  If in doubt go with a board that has more floatation, rather than less.  Good starter shapes are hybrid, funboard and longboard (which will be 9ft).  Most folks I surf with that are around your size ride boards in the 6-6 tp 6-8 range.  Thickness should be at least 2 7/16 for adequate floatation.

Brands we like here are Roger Hinds, Rusty, and Al Merrick.  If you can do it, buying a locally shaped board is a great way to go.

  3. hey im 165cm and 60kg and i ride a 6 foot 2 inches tall,18 1/2 inches wide,2 3/8 inches thick with pull out fins(FCS)fin control system....but my best mate rides a 6"4' tall,19' wide,2 3/8 thick and he is  very similar build...been surfing Gold Coast beach's since 1988 and always buy local custom boards because they deserve our buisness...well some of em anyway....i know a good shaper and his boards are strong and only $450....been riding one now for ages and its a fun board...mate rides one and many others types like...DHD,Joker,Mt Woodge,PipeDream and Nev to name a few
