What surrond sound shoud i buy?

I am looking to buy a home surrond sound sound and i just need speakers! I have a PS3 that plays blue ray discs and dvds. I also have a 50in panasonic 1080p tv. Are there certain things i should be looking for in this item.

  1. Unless you didn't mention it you need speakers and a surround sound amplifier or receiver to power them.

    You could also use computer speakers (which are self powered), but this will limit sound quality somewhat (at least relative to good stand alone speakers).

    To benefit from the advanced audio codecs supported by Blu-ray you need a good receiver with codec support built in (e.g. Onkyo's higher end models) and good speakers. That said, any surround system will give you basic functionality.

    There are numerous good speakers at various price ranges and availability, so it's impossible to recommend specific models. I suggest you consider your preferences in term of size, colour, price, etc. Look for reviews on surround speakers and look for ones locally supported and in a price range you are comfortable with. And then be sure to go and hear them with some music you are familar with. Pick on the basis of what sounds good to you.

    Re. receivers, the advice is the similar, although you need to define your needs in terms of coonectivity, power, features etc. since these things vary widely. It's also not as important to audition a receiver ... but do read reviews and try to stick to name brands.
