  1. i dont think your grade matters. what does matter is when you started playing your instrument (whichever instrument that is) and also how quickly you have picked up on your instrument. So, to answer your question, its not what suzuki book you should be on in the 8th grade, its how well of a player do you think you are? if you were to pick up one of the books, and look at it, do you think you could play it? or couldnt you? if you cant, then i'd get it. if you could play it, just by knowing as you look at it, then that's sight reading to a certain extent, and you know what you would have been dealing with in that book.

  2. depends on what instrument you play maybe

by book 4, shouldn't play everything is suzuki anyway. just skip to the last one in book 7 (the hard bach, i don't remember which number) and stop using suzuki. the series doesn't help technique after that.

by 8th grade, should finish at least (for concertos) seitz, the easier vivaldis. then move on to other concertos, like mozart, bruch depending on your instrument. each of these composers has that one really popular concerto for your level.

for technique, should finish Wohlfahrt book I and II, if string instrument

hope that helps. i don't know much about instruments other than strings

  3. well do you play flute or strings?

I do suzuki method flute and I am in book 4. 6 is not too low a level. but I think strings and flute go differently. 6 is actually quit advanced.
