  1. For red hot gaming I would suggest

Mother board something baed on NVdia 790i chipset

RAM DDR3 1800 (OCZ, Super Talent, Mushkin, Corsair all good)

CPU Intel Q9550 Quad core 2.83GHz 12MB Cache

Graphics 2 x 9800GT NVidia in SLIL configuration

Hard Drives 2 x WD Velociraptors 10000RPM (your choice on the sizes) one for OS and Applicatons the other for games

Power 650w minimum I like Corsair

OS depends on the game and software you want to use. If vista compatable go with vista as you will be able to use more than 3 GB og RAM

    Sound Creative XFI Fatalitiy

That would allow you to kick some serious butt

  2. Check out "Tom's Hardware"

It's one main guy and some other geeks working with him to help people with computer issues and they built three versions of the "ultimate gaming computer"...and they give you the spects and the results that they got with each...

The three machines were done to stay in specific price ranges of

    $1000.00-$5000.000-$10000.00

You can copy some of what they did...

  3. You don't even need to spend that much for a top of the line computer.  The most expensive components will be the processor and the graphic card(s).  Do a search on performance charts for processors and graphic cards which will tell you what ones are the best out their at the moment.  If you want your moneys worth though always go one notch down from the fastest most current component.  They are always way over prices for what little more performance you will get.  If you build strictly a gaming computer it will have no problem handling any thing you would need on it for work.

  4. You should only spend $1500 - $2000 max

  6. intel qx9770

    2x ATI 4870x2

    x48 chipset motherboard

    2gig DD3 dual channel 1600mhz

    1000watts PSU
