our mum bought 2 new hot water bottles for us yesterday. We dont like our new ones which are made of plastic. our old ones were made of rubber and were much nicer. she has now thrown our old bottles in the bin even though they never leaked.

does anyone know how long a rubber hot water bottle takes to rot away on a rubbish dump? and how long do plastic ones take.? we hope to persuade our mum to buy more rubber ones next time.

  1. Rubber will deteriorate faster than modern plastics. But nothing beats a real rubber hot-water bottle.

  2. i'm pretty sure that plastic rots slower. rubber is natural, it comes from trees, so i think it would decompose pretty quickly.

  3. Rubber will rot first.

  4. rubber is organic from a tree it rots very quickly

plastic from oil takes years if it is good plastic

  5. plastic

  6. I believe that rubber gets hard over time and then gets brittle afterwards.  Plastic however, i believe last forever.

  7. sorry, rubber rots (dries out and disintegrates) faster.
