how can they be garunteed that people will stay in the casino in order for them to make money? what methods do they use?

I think the main technique is the promise of making you rich. And the people who believe that are enough to support the casino. Free drinks don't hurt.

a few i noticed:

1. frequent player points (those cards they give you for signing up with the club). the more you gamble at the same place, the more and better prizes you can get.

2. a confusing maze to get to the casino: often, exits are hidden and difficult to find, and you need to wrap around and walk extra to get out.

3. friendly staff: often, the pit bosses will pretend they actually care about you to try and get you to think they're your friend.

4. difficulty in cashing out: not all cash cages are 24/7. they open and close randomly, making it a pain in the butt to leave.
