I work for a company that sub-contracts from the city, so I cut all the grass, and I'm wondering what Temp I can refuse work, if any. I have been looking on the labour website for canada, but I can't find it. Thanks

  1. Go to stores in your area and look for Neck Coolers.  Here is a picture:

After work, put these in your freezer to wear the next day.  One of my cyber friends puts this under her hat and one around her neck.

Be sure to wear a wide brimmed straw hat.  You will be surprised how this keeps the heat off of your head and neck.

Buy a water bottle belt and carry a couple of bottles of water with you wherever you mow.  Drink lots and lots of water.  It really does help.

  2. Um none. You have to work reguardless of the weather. That's what you agreed to when you took the job, or else why did you take it?

  3. you can refuse at any temperature you want too...don't mean that you will have a job the next day..but you can..there is no law against the temperature...Wonder how hot it has to be for the firemen fighting the fires in California to stop working..I imagine that close to the flames they are 4 or 500 degrees or more at times

  4. typical city worker question!  How can I get out of work....  You should be lucky you live in Canada - try cutting grass in Las Vegas!

  5. I think your employer would have to provide breaks and water, but I doubt there's a certain temperature which you can refuse to work.  I think that's called "quitting" and you probably shouldn't expect to be welcomed back the following day.  If they pay you for 8 hours per day, and you refused to work part of that, I would think you'd have to make up the time later in the day or on a day you were scheduled to be off.
