try for inbetween 75 and 80 F always. That's their idea temperature.

when I had guppies and neons, I kept them in water 19-21'C (66-68'F) warm and they were doing just fine.

p.s. Don't get neon tetras! Get cardinal tetras. They look the same, except they are a lot shinier, brighter, cuter, and bigger.
