What temp is it in Ireland in October?

I'm basically wondering what I should bring or wear on my trip in Oct. I looked on google what the average temp is but I'm wondering if being rainy makes it colder? Also, is it windy?

Thanks!!!

  1. Cold. Bring thin layers, cause while you may shiver outdoors, you'll sweat once you get inside a shop or pub.

    Scarves are great...

  2. Depending on where you live in the states, Ireland does not really get all that cold, comparatively. I have been there in the fall and it was windy so do bring a light fall/winter coat and a light scarf, but no need for gloves, etc...It gets to 50, maybe 40 at the least. It was colder in the North, as you'd expect.

The damp can make it feel colder. Just dress in light layers, as you would for early fall in the US and you should be fine. I got by with t shirts under light sweaters, cardigans...just as I would dress for fall here in the US. Irish people dress just like Americans, so don't fret too much about it. You can always shop a bit if you need something you didn't pack. Have a great trip

  3. Definitely take an umbrella, fleece, & windbreaker because, yes, the wind and rain does make it feel cooler. It's not even so much the fact that it's a rainy day as the fact that it's cloudy. Once the sun comes out, it cheers you up and all's well! It may  rain about every second day. Hope you're not too vain about your hair, because in about 3 hours it won't look like it did when you fixed it at the beginning of the day. But none of that will matter 'cuz you'll be in awe of your surroundings. Of course after a few Guinnesses you won't care about your surroundings either!

Here's a couple websites you might have missed:

  4. It has been quite mild here in recent years in October, but come prepared for the worst. It also varies quite a bit from North to South, the South being slightly milder. There are lots of climate figures published on the web, but you are right, the wind and rain can each make it seem cooler, and we often get quite a bit of both in October. While the published temperature may be 10 degree C it might actually feel like 4 Degrees with wind and rain.

As far as I can remember, I never known it to freeze in October or snow! Don't come expecting it to be good and then you won't be disappointed!

  5. dunno its freezing toh
