  1. I live on an Arizona, and we own a ranch. We ride our horses everyday as long as its not over 105. Horses are very durable, and as long as you give them water they are fine. 85 is like winter here! We get lucky if during the summer its under 105. Horses are tough and can handle weather as long as they are in shape and get water.

    Hope this makes sense!

  2. it depends on what you are planning to do...if its a light hack, then any temp. should be good....over 35 degrees Celsius is too hot tho for any exercise....if you are working your horse, i would say prolly around 25-28 degrees Celsius in full sun is too hot, if it is later in the evening, like 7 o'clock, then it should be cool enough to work your horse :) Also the humidity level contributes to when you should ride your horse...and the UV rating...

  3. I won't ride if it's 85 degrees or over. I think it's better to ride when the sun starts to go down, and you get a little breeze. To many horses get sun stroke in the Summer.

Unless you have a nice cool inside arena.

  4. You should be able to roughly guess what temperature is too hot to ride your horse in. When its quite hot then you could ride but only for about half an hour. When its really hot then just give it a miss. Riding early or quite late would mean you get to ride more because it won't be as hot.

Use your common sence. Think about your horse. =D

  5. Well for the person who said not hotter then 85 let me tell you something I live in Arizona and 85 degrees is cold for here haha. Since it is so hot here I do try to not ride in the middle of the day and I usuall ride at sunset. I wouldn't ride any hotter then 105

  6. Sovereign7 is right!

It's the heat index you should be worried about not the temp. Your humidity + temp=<150

and if you think it's to hot during the day wait till night

  7. we don't work our horses past a heat index of 105 for summer camp.  we have heavy humidity and an open sand arena.  draft and black horses suffer a lot more.  hot blooded horses suffer a lot less.

i think so around 40 C heat index??? i always forget how to convert C and F

  8. Add your humidity number with your current local temp number...over 150  it's too hot/humid to ride.

  9. I wouldn't ride if it's 90 degrees or higher because that to me is just way to hot for a person to be riding in and a horse.
