  1. Very low.

  2. I have an electric smoothtop, and a slow simmer (just to keep it warm) is the lowest, with a gentle simmer the next lowest, and a hard simmer the 3rd one...

  3. Most recipes that call for a simmer first call for a boil. If your mixture is boiling, you can turn the stove almost all the way down for a simmer. If you are simmering from cold, you may have to go to a low-medium heat to get it started.

    Hope I helped.

  4. It will depend upon your oven, bring your liquid to the boil, then reduce heat to the simmering stage you want.

If I am steaming something above I am on about 2-3.

It is one of those things you will need to learn about your oven. I think they are all different.

  5. lowest setting

  6. after the liquid has reached boiling reduce the heat to the lowest temperature setting . after a few minutes check it to see if the liquid is rolling over slowly or bubbling slowly then that the temperature you need if not increase slightly until  it does. also it makes a difference if

the pot is covered or not.
