  1. That all depends on what the fish are. Different fish have different temperatures. I suggest google the fish you want to keep and findALL information on them before you get them.

Badmans is a good fish site.

  2. 72-80F

  3. Well what kind of fish do you have? That makes a huge difference! Cold water fish should be kept in.....you guessed it!! Cold water!

Whereas tropical need an average of 25 degrees C, but this depends on the fish and can range from 23 - 28 for some fish (or maybe more).

Research your fish (preferably before you bought them).

And remember, just because your heater is set to, say 25 degrees C, doesn't mean that's the temp of your water. You need a thermometer at the other end of the tank to check water temp. I have a large tank and have my heater on 28 degrees C to keep the water at 25.

  4. 72-74 is normally average for a freshwater tank. Salt water...i have no clue.

  5. What fish do you have?

25C (77F) is a good average for most common tropicals, but some prefer cooler, some wamer.

  6. erm...is it tropical fish eg. guppies, mollies, platys, chiclids, gouramis etc, or is it for coldwater eg. goldfish, fancy goldfish, dojo/weather loaches, white cloud mountain minnows etc? i keep my goldies tank at around 72-74 and my tropical tank at around 78-80, it all depends on the types of fish you want to keep. remember the warmer the water the less dissolved oxygen it holds. you would be best looking up and researching each fish you want to keep in the tank, note down its recommendations and then seeing if you can keep them all at an average temperature which will suit them all.
