  1. 1.You can test for conductivity

    2. You can test an element in water: Most non-metals produce acidic oxides when dissolve in water. On the other hand, most metals, give rise to basic oxides. Most metal oxides are insoluble in water but some of these dissolve in water to form alkalis such as sodium oxide and potassium oxide.


  2. put it in an electric circuit, if the material conducts it's definitely a metal

  3. i hated chem lol, but maybe...

    if it is malleable or non malleable

    ionization energies could tell you, whether it's high or low i forgot which is which.

    where it is placed on the periodic table.

    wow i only took chem last year and i forgot, sorry lol
