  1. the baby bonus has been increased

what more do u want mothers???

  2. Labor Party always spends and raises taxes when in Government which causes inflation, unemployment and recession.

A fact of life you get used to.

  3. It's because he is means testing the baby bonus so he has to give something back to working mothers.

I have no objection to it actually because I would rather pay people for 6 months to stay home who then go back and contribute to the tax system than the dole bludgers who still get the baby bonus and don't do a d**n thing other than bleed us dry.

Who voted for the idiot anyway, I guess most of us did, hence the reason we are all going to suffer, pay more taxes and get less back.

We are not heading into a welfare society, we already are one.  Women who are going back into the work force after 6 months of having a baby at least pay taxes.

  4. One thing about Rudd he can read the peoples feelings and in all the polls I have seen are so against the maternity levy I doubt he will introduce it and why should we if people want kids then they should be prepared to pay for them.

  5. Popular consensus seems to be we need more people to be trained, have a career. Including working women who become working mothers. But we don't want insitutionalised kids.

On balance the community wants mothers to get paid maternity leave. Why should employers pay for it? The community wants it, the community should pay for it.

What would you propose as a better alternative- no paid maternity leave, employers pay for maternity leave, kids get neglected and a poorer start in life, or get women back in to the kitchen and home?
