There are numerous anti-viruses that you can use, some you pay for and others are free.

AVG 8 is a free download and i use it to clean out other peoples PC's of viruses. For a free anti-virus AVG8 certainly performs extremely well.

You can set it to scan your PC automatically, which just makes it that little bit easier to use.

With all anti-viruses you must remember to update on a regular basis as viruses are appearing daily.

I use ZoneAlarm just scan your computer regularly and you have a choice to do what you want with the virus. I always choose delete

Take it from a pro. Kaspersky for antivirus and Webroot spysweeper for anti spyware. If your trying to get out for cheap. Get the spysweeper with added anti virus for 49.99. It also come with a 35 mail in rebate from circuit city.
