La Porte des Indes is a French influenced Indian Restaurant in Bryanston Street W1H - but it is pricey.

Try Drummond Street near Euston Station for a choice of good value vegetarian restaurants.

The Humaira Indian Restaurant in Judd Street WC1H next to the Skinners Pub comes well recommended.

By the way the Tayyab is in Fieldgate Street E1.

The central ones in the Good Food Guide are as follows:

Haandi is the best value of these, at half the price of the other top ones.  Mint Leaf has good decor and is trendy/noisy.  Deya is more relaxed.  Rasa Samudra does Keralan food, which is different, and is also reasonably priced.  Personally I am unconvinced about Rasoi/Benares/Tamarind on the value for money front, as these can easily be £60 a head with modest drinks, though there cooking is fine.. Amaya and Salloos are again pricey.

Haandi would be the pick for my money.  Reviews and contacts details for these are on my web site below.

definitely veeraswami on regent street. modern indian food of high quality, modern decor, good service.

Not exactly central, but close enough is Tayyabs. Value for money, generous portions and you even spot the odd celeb there - would recommend booking a table though. Closest tube Liverpool Street or Whitechapel.
