The rifle has a heavy barrel 26''. I don't want to spend more the $130 on a scope right now. Later I will get me a Leupold. And I would like the scope to be a Tactical Scope. If not a tact scope, tell me others. I will be deer hunting with the gun and alot of target shooting. The deer where I will be hunting are out about 100-400 yards.

  1. Burris Fullfield II 3-9X40 approximately $130 and proudly made in the USA with a lifetime warranty.

  2. I think this would be a good scope until you can afford a leupold

  3. I'd suggest you go with a scope from the bushnell trophy line. They have a 4-12x40mm for $160. If you don't really want the extra magnification the 3-9x40mm is only $100. These really are excellent scopes for their price range. I have the 4-16x50mm (now discontinued) and it has worked great for me. Holds its zero very well and has good clarity too. I'm not really sure what you mean when you say you want a "tactical" scope, but I know this scope will work great for deer hunting.

  4. Here is one for 149.99 a  little out of your price range but i think it will fit the bill. http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.ex...

  5. Tasco Brand will work for you.* Get the variable.* They are  a reasonably priced good scope.*

I have used several scopes on several rifles, but the best one that I have found for .308 is made by Shepherd.

They start at about $550.00 and go up from there.  Their reticle is designed caliber specific.  It is a Stadia type reticle, and has a built in drop compensator and range finder.

I have one equipped on my Savage, Chambered for 7mm Remington Magnum.  It is very accurate, and very easy to use.

The little book tells you which drop compensator to use according to bullet weight.  Then they recommend that you Zero at 100 yards.  Once you have done that, the drop compensator on the reticle will tell you exactly how high your elevation needs to be to put the bullet where you want it.

I have not missed a shot yet.  Best of all, its a varible power, so that makes it even better.

    Oh yes, available from Midway.

Good Luck, I hope that helps you out.

  8. Burris, BSA, Tasco and Leapers all make low cost scopes that are good starters . $130 is not going to by you much of a scope, Remember you get what you pay for.

  9. If the gun is good and the scope is sub-standard then you won't be as good of a shot.  I have a Leupold and I love it.  It wasn't horribly expensive either.  If you want to be able to make the kill you have to spend some cash.

  10. The best scope I have ever bought in that price range is the Nikon buckmasters 3x9x40 .Very very clear and hold it's zero. I had it on a 7mm mag for a while and now have it on my muzzleloader . good luck       PS. BSA scopes suck in my opinion
