Question:

What the best way to care for dark rinse denim trousers?

I just bought a pair of dark rinse trousers from Banana Republic (on sale!) and I am wondering how to best care for them. I know what NOT to do, which of course is why I had to go out and purchase another pair.

Thanks.

  1. There is a detergent made for cold water, don't remember which brand.  Use that and wash in cold water. If you have a place to hang them to dry that will keep the dark rinse better than a dryer.  Then just toss them in the dryer on fluff or air dry for about 15 minutes to soften them and get the wrinkles out before you wear them.

  2. cold water and hang to dry and very little detergent.

  3. Turn them inside out to wash them.  This will help preserve the dye.  Wash them with cold water with a detergent designed for darks.  Woolite dark is really good.  Hang to dry, you can fluff them in the dryer if you like, but make sure it is set for "fluff"...not blowing heat.

  4. Dry clean them OR wash in cold water and dry them on permanent press or air dry.
