  1. Not all administrative functions are related to health care and health care delivery. A MPA degree can be useful if you want to go into other branches of government or organizational management.

On the other hand, much of the MPH degree has nothing to do with administration. I have a MPH in biostatistics and epidemiology. I only ever took one class in health care policy. The rest of my work was in number crunching. I am an infectious disease epidemiologist, and I assure you I have no idea how to run an organization. Nor do I have many solutions on how to fix a crappy health care system. However I can investigate an outbreak and find its source, validate my findings with statistics and implement control measures to stop the spread of disease. Nifty, innit?

So ask yourself what you would want to do, and then decide which is a better fit. You may want to consider MHA (Master of Health Administration) as a compromise between MPA and MPH.
