  1. Kami no yu and Tama no yu are the names in the rooms in Dogo Onsen Honkan (The centeral building of Dogo onsen).

They have no big difference except two, grade of stones of bath tub and  tolls to enter there.

You will be able to relax in Taka no yu because it is more expencive and less people in there, like first-class.

You don't need anything to prepare before you go to Dogo Onsen to enjoy taking into onsen (hot spring).

    Accourding to this page,

you can buy a towel and a soap in the enterance gate of Dogo Onsen Honkan at 200 yen.

(but it's rather small, at least you should bring a bath towel to dry your body with and extra clothes)

Dogo onsen in Matsuyama and Arima onsen in Kobe are two the oldest and most foumos onsen in Japan. Dogo Onsen Honkan (Kami no yu and Tama no yu) is very atomospheric.

They are also known as the most expencive in Japan, but Dogo Onsen Honkan offers a quite cheap tolls to a day tripper.

(400 or 800 yen for Kami no yu)

    enjoy your trip!

  2. I'm not completely sure about the 1st question, but I know that "kami" refers to hair so it is probably about a hair treatment (?), not sure about tama though

Anyway, I bet you know that an onsen is a public bath. Essentially, you have to know that you will be completely naked (and vulnerable) with a bunch of complete strangers. Some people can't get over this, but if you can, you will find the baths very enjoyable. From the baths I have been to, you cannot take your towel in to the bath room, so you will have to be completely confident in your body.

My biggest piece of advice. Don't think about it too much. Just enjoy the relaxing baths, its all worth it in the end!
