What the different between Mechanical Engineering technology, manufacturing option and general design option?

giving my perspective for it may vary with country's syllabus.

Mech. Engg. is about calculations in design and specifications.   manufacturing is about industrial plants design layouts and other related time & motions studies...i.e. more of process.

General design option is discussing about everything and the important factors to be considered for the design in each application.
