  1. HDMI is High Definition Multimedia Interface

In other words, it's digital video and audio instead of those old red, yellow, and white cables for video, it's all in one wire

It's better than those older cables because the audio is digital and not analog it sounds a lot better when you connect it to say a tv with digital dolby surround sound.

I have a Laptop that has HDMI on it, all you have to do is buy a keyboard with a mouspad built in and then sit on the comfy sofa and surf the web wirelessly and it feels great too, not just looks great, but feels great, sounds great, and it's awesome!!

  2. A cheap, single cable that provides digital video and digital audio.  They can be bought for like $5, so no biggie.  I run them on my PS3 and they work perfect..

  3. HDMI has the bandwidth to transmit uncompressed audio and video data so you get the highest quality.  1080p, which is the highest HD output that PS3 supports can only be transmitted with HDMI cable from your PS3 to your tv.  The people at your local retailer will try to sell you $100 HDMI cables, but dont do it.  You can go online and buy them for $10 or less.  Check the link below- but first make sure your tv has HDMI inputs.

I bought HDMI cables online for $10 and have had no problems and I am very happy with it.

  4. High Density Multiple Interface.

  5. HDMI was designed to consolidate cables.

If you have a 5.1 audio system and are running component analog RGB video you would have 9 seperate cables.

HDMI was designed to consolidate these onto a single wire. There is no performance increase or decrease versus component RGB analog video cables/digital audio cables and HDMI.
