What the heck does Costello think he's playing at?

Why this coy "maybe I will/maybe I won't" business?

And how pathetic are the Libs to think this goon is their Messiah?

Does he want to be Leader of the Opposition or not?

  1. Oldemystic, your answer is hilarious! Couldn't put it any better than that.

    'born to rule' mindset, exactly!

He's just playing the "how much do you really love me?" card. But yeah, once he has them on their knees he'll say "get stuffed!" lol

  2. They must be getting desperate and to think they use to have a go at Labour for rehashing old leaders.

I thought Peter was going to bow out of politics.

Oh well he is better than them bringing back Alexandra or heaven help us little Johnny.

  3. It suits his ego to be the centre of attention.  It is a symptom of his gutlessness that he will not risk failure.

  4. Olde Mystic strikes again! Very well said.

As a Labor supporter, I hope Costello stays and that the Libs make him leader. I bet KR and the rest are down on their knees praying every night that he stays and becomes the leader, but I don't think it will happen.

His ego is being stroked by his still shell-shocked born to rule supporters and Costello loves the position he's in at the moment. He doesn't actually need to do or say anything and he's always loved being the centre of attention, but I reckon he'll call it a day soon.

I believe that Costello knows what a formidable opponent Turnbull would be and isn't game to throw his hat into the ring with MT looking over his shoulder, but he's so gutless that he won't admit it even to himself. Besides, then he'd need to start 'walking the walk' as well as 'talking the talk'.

The supercilious Costello is so deeply loathed by so many voters that the Libs have no chance of winning an election with him in charge, but I'm afraid that if Labor don't actually start doing something instead of 'watching' everything, Turnbull will get the nod from the Libs and he would have a great chance of making Rudd a one term wonder - as much as I hate to say it!.

  5. . . . and devastation reigned amongst the 'born to rule' kingdom. The mindless minions who once had worshiped the great god Johnny had rebelled and cast the once-great into the void, and annointed another from a far-off kingdom in his stead.

"Where, oh where, shall we find a replacement for the great god Johnny, who is fit to challenge this upstart interloper?" wailed the remnant 'born-to-rules", with gnashing of teeth, bitter in their misery.

A groundswell of chanting voices arose from the torn and ripped bowels of the wasteland.

"Peee ta! Peee ta! Peee ta!" they cried in harmony.

Peter listened and saw the turmoil in the devastated kingdom. "At last I am being called to my true destiny", he mused as he cast a supercillious and paternalistic gaze upon the suffering.

As they fell in benison, he raised his hand to still the ever-escalating chant: "Pee ta! Pee ta! Save us from the horrors of opposition benches! Give us hope for 2010! Let the new decade bring forth a new age of the righteous return of the born-to-rule kingdom!"

He gazed benevolently over the fawning mass, a self-satisfied sneer twisting idly at his lips, his brow furrowed in grand consternation.

    "Get stuffed!" he cried!

(Well, I think he'll opt out anyway.)

    Cheers.
