What the heck is 527.?

I am hearing it everywhere in the political process...AND plese give it to me in laymen terms...i have already looked it up and i am still foggy

I believe that it is a type of 401k, except for non-profit company employees, I'm not exactly positive but I believe I remember that from somewhere

It is half of 1052

It is double 263.5

It is a provision of the US tax code which allows groups of people to gather and bundle money to use in political causes

as long as they are ( supposedly) independent of the candidate himself.  It is a sham where by the politicians can funnel money to issues which they support or oppose.

A 527 is a Political Action Committee (PAC) that puts out ads in favor (or more likely against) a candidate that is not related to that candidates campaign.
