What the heck is going on in Zimbabwe and why is US media not covering the news?

what is happening is that the country is on a one-way track to h**l.

inflation is like a thousand and something percent and poverty reigns supreme.

mugabe's supporters intimidate and force everyone else to vote for and support him and they use hardcore violence to do this. as if it is not bad enough to do this, they are raping, torturing and murdering women, the elderly AND children - even babies.

they held a presidential election in march which morgan tsvangirai (the leader of the opposition) clearly won, but mugabe would not recognise this and forced them to have a run-off follow-up election. after the campaign of brutal and animalistic violence that mugabe's supporters unleashed on the opposition's supporters, tsvangirai decided to pull out of the run-off election in order to try and spare the people from further mindless persecution.

mugabe ran the election anyhow - with him being the only candidate!

people who are already suffering due to poverty and hunger, are also being tortured, raped and murdered all in the name of mugabe.

and the world sits and watches.

Africans killing other Africans goes on all the time and is not the news people want to hear. It is depressing to most folks.

Just like Darfur. Nothing we can do, so why tell us what's going on?

It is being reported, i have read and heard about it but what do you want the US to do?????

We go in, we're called nosey warmongering bloodthirsty animals who can't keep to themselves.

If we don't go in or acknowledge, we're called ignorant, arrogant and selfish.

I mean, this hypocrisy is what really pisses me off.

I know what's happening there, it is such a tragedy but it isn't the first time Africans have genocide Africans, the election was rediculous and many leaders INC. Bush, have called for charges against Mugabe and other members, some will face prosecution, Mugabe, i don't know. But if the African govt. are THAT corrupt, it's going to be just like the middle east - no matter what the US does, the country will always be reigned by militia, torment, dictatorship, and greed.

Who wants to go to Zimbabwe and be jailed or shot over a story that's chronic, endemic, and out anyway?

My first guess would be that if Blacks are killing other Blacks, the US news media is not interested.

If Whites are killing Blacks it would be a major news story throughout America.
