What the heck was that noise just now in Scottsdale, AZ? (1:20 AM)?

It was a very loud booming noise. Like the noise a transformer makes when it explodes, but even louder and little less "pop" and more "boom". Does that help? Sorry!

No idea there was a noise at all.  Could be anything - car crash, plane dropped from the sky, gas station blew up.  A bit of specifics about what the noise was like would help.  No noise like that in Phoenix.

Perhaps, it was a sonic boom caused by USAF testing a new plane.

I have no idea, but it was LOUD!  It almost seemed to ripple after the initial boom, and it set off at least a dozen car alarms in my neignborhood. (Scdl Rd, & T-bird)  I've never heard a sonic boom before, but that's what I imagine one would sound like.
